Expectations and Practice

The “Expectations and Practice” category is dedicated to addressing the realities of working in the mental health field that may not be covered in traditional education and training programs. In this category, we will explore a wide range of issues that mental health professionals encounter in their practice, such as imposter syndrome, pay and benefits, client loads, problems with supervisors and coworkers, insurance codes, audits, and self-care. The goal of this category is to provide mental health professionals with practical advice, insights, and strategies for navigating the challenges of their work. By addressing these often-overlooked issues, we aim to help mental health professionals feel more confident and prepared in their work, and to promote a healthier and more sustainable work-life balance. We’ll cover topics such as managing workloads, dealing with difficult colleagues or supervisors, and prioritizing self-care to avoid burnout. Our aim is to provide mental health professionals with the tools they need to thrive in their work, while also maintaining their own well-being and professional integrity.
